I get asked alot of questions on how to make pony plushes. I really don't think I'm the best person to ask since I'm a total noob, but I will try to help! First off, you need a pattern. I don't sell or give out my pattern, but there are plenty of nice ones online! All it takes is a bit of searching but I'm going to make that part easy for you.

You should add OhSewGeeky's Pony Plush tutorial, it's cute and easy, with a YouTube video tutorial, for first time pony plush makers. Any other free ones you know of?

It's a very flexible pattern, too. She includes pattern pieced for contrasting hooves on stallions, like Big Mac, and I've made sitting foals with it

Thank you so much for all the great information!! I'm new to making plushes and love it. To Gatekat if you are asking about the valleyviolet pattern it is the one I use. I've had great results with it and really like the look of the ponies. Yay. Now to get that Spike pattern. It's just too cute.

By chance have you checked out the one on etsy? I'm curious if you think it's worth the $20 given there seem to be some good free patterns.

There are a few etsy ones. Which one are you referring to? I think it's really up to the buyer though. Different patterns require different skill levels. It's probably a good idea to contact the maker of the pattern you're interested it, and they can tell you whether it's a beginner, intermediate, or more advanced pattern.

If you like the style of that pony then I say go for it! It looks like it includes lots of different mane and tail patterns, so that's a plus!
