Pony Prototype Pattern by PlanetPlush Pony Prototype Pattern by PlanetPlush
If there's enough interest in my new pony prototype, I will make the pattern available to the public! tumblr: spaceplush.tumblr.com/post/939…

I get asked for my patterns a lot and I really hate to disappoint people when I say no. I'm always open to give people plush making advice and developing a pattern for public use has been an interest of mine for a while. So I decided to finally sit down and make one! This little pony is a cross between my very first pony pattern and my current one.

The prototype pattern was developed specifically to use with minky fabric. As you can see, it's quite a tiny pony! It stands about 10 inches tall and is pictured in between the TY Applejack Beanie Baby and the 4DE Twilight Sparkle.

If there is enough interest for this, I will release the base pattern onto my Etsy account. The price will most likely be about $10. I do plan on making a complete pony character with mane, tail, and embroidery to use as an example.

Feel free to spread the word!

I am interested. Your how tos where very helpful. I think your pattern will sell very well. Have you thought writing a book on plush design? You are really good at making patterns, and you are able to make different types of plushies.

I actually have considered that and writing a little book on digitizing as well!

Nice pattern! Interesting how you did the back of the head, I like that. Does this mean the head and body are all one piece instead of attaching the head to the body after like other patterns?

PlanetPlush Featured By Owner Aug 5, 2014  Professional Artisan Crafter
Thanks! Part of the head is still a separate piece. The 'face' part. You basically sew all of the body first, sew the face together including ears, then attach the face to the body.

Ahh I see, so where do you leave open for stuffing when it's all sewn? It's a wonderful looking pattern, I think if you sell it you'll get a lot of interest!

I leave an opening in the back of the head. I feel like that's probably the easiest way to do it.

That's really nice of you to release a pattern to the public.  $10 is affordable and I know there will be a lot of people buying it.  Thank you for taking the time to make one!  I might buy the pattern when it comes out.  I'm more interested in making stallions, which would need a little tweaking, plus I haven't finished any plush project yet.

Wow, this is by far my favorite open plush pattern (well soon to be I hope?)

I absolutely love how the entire plush looks whole, whereas normally the head is a different piece.

I've never made a plushie, but i'll definitely have to try with this pattern if you end up selling it ^^
Nice work! Clap

I've been waiting for a decent pony pattern to go up for sale so I'd definitely be interested in this. I've tried contacting a few people about commissioning my pony but they were all way out of my budget sadly. Making one of my own seems like the way to go. I saw in an earlier comment that you mentioned making a few adjustments. I'll keep watching and waiting for the official release, thank you for doing this :D

Thanks! I'm going to try to fix the neck area some tomorrow. Thankfully the pony is small so it doesn't take long to sew together.

Yeah, I agree. I've been working on some plushies too, lately. Quick question if you don't mind, I just got an embroidery machine. Any advice? It's been birdnesting a LOT lately.

Did you buy digitizing software too? Or are you using premade files? If you have software, I'd try to make some simple files are first and test those out just to see the capabilities of your machine.
